If you’re planning a wedding at the iconic Stone Haven wedding venue (or are photographing a wedding there for the first time this year), you’re most likely overwhelmed by the amount of photo spots the stunning Alabama venue offers.
The goal today is to help you narrow your options down to the very best selections for photos at Stone Haven. So if that’s what you’re looking for, today is your lucky day.

There’s a reason the Stone Haven Wedding Venue has gone viral on pretty much every social media platform. If you’ve ever been, you know it’s truly one-of-a-kind. I’ve never seen anything like it. From the lush views of rolling hills and rivers to the all-glass Atrium (the building you’ve probably seen all over social media), it’s become the ultimate destination for a European-inspired wedding in the United States.

In my opinion, as a traveling wedding photographer who has shot weddings at many different types of venues, there are three locations at Stone Haven that I consider to be the best spots for photos. Let’s get into it.
1. The Iconic Stone Haven Staircase

The reason this staircase is my top choice for photos is because it looks amazing in any type of lighting. During about 3pm through golden hour it’s gorgeous and backlit (especially 1-2 hours before sunset when the sun is coming through the Atrium in the back), but even during the first half of the day with harsher lighting it’s still stunning.
It’s the perfect place for editorial-style portraits and also allows your photographer to get a wider shot (shown below) showing off Stone Haven’s Atrium in the back.

2. Stone Haven’s Bluff and River Overlooks
The bluff overlook is my absolute favorite view in the entire venue. What other venues have you seen that look out on lush green for as far as the eye can see? Stone Haven truly is a gem in the middle of nowhere and that’s part of the beauty of it, truly.

It’s crazy the change in scenery between the two opposite sides of the venue. The best part is that as long as you know where you’re going, it’s totally realistic to take photos at both sides. Shown above is one side and the other is pictured below.

3. The Stone Haven Guest House

Since the staircase and bluff overlooks are the most iconic aspects of the Stone Haven Wedding Venue, I think the guest house and lawn are best utilized in the morning/midday on a wedding day, when the lighting is more harsh and casting darker shadows, like in the photo above. Depending on the season, the bright greens pop and create that perfect, editorial feel.

Whether you’re planning a huge wedding at the Stone Haven Venue in Alabama or are hoping for a smaller, intimate one, these three locations will be gorgeous for taking photos at on your special day.
And if you’re still on the hunt for a wedding photographer, I would be honored to capture wedding at Stone Haven.
